The 41st AGS Colloquium and Annual Meeting was held at Sackville, NB, on the 30-31 January 2015, on campus at Mt. Allison University. Below are some memories of the event.

Gesner Medal winner The Gesner Medal winner in 2015 was Dr. Marcos Zentilli, Dalhousie University

Laing Ferguson Distinguished Service award

Laing Ferguson award winner The Laing Ferguson Distinguished Service award in 2015 was to Dr. Jim Walker, New Brunswick Department of Energy and Mines, Bathurst. Heavy snow prohibited Jim from attending, so here Reg Wilson is receiving the award from citation reader Mike Parkhill.

Student Awards

Students take note!  Awards are made for the best oral paper and poster in both undergraduate and graduate classes. Preparing a paper or a poster and presenting it at an academic conference is a great experience for students, and AGS is pleased to recognise your effort with the following awards:

"Banquet Speaker"

Jeff Ollerhead Our banquet speaker, Jenna Boon, Executive Director, Joggins Fossil Centre, was unable to arrive, as roads to Nova Scotia were closed by snow. In place, Jeff Ollerhead, Dean of Science at Mt. Allison University, provided an ad lib interpretation and explanation of the mural by Alex Colville in the Tweedie Hall.

 

Kitchen Party
After dinner till midnight: AGS Kitchen Party Open Mic:  Bring your Instrument (any instrument!) to the 2015 AGS Kitchen Party.  Join us for music and libations after the AGS Banquet. This open mic will be open to any and all.
