Welcome to Dr. Deanne van Rooyen

The Earth and Environmental Science Department welcomes our newest faculty member Dr. Deanne van Rooyen. Dr. van Rooyen comes to us from Cape Breton University where she co-founded the Bachelor of Arts and Science in Environment degree program. Dr. van Rooyen’s research focusses on metamorphic petrology, structural geology, tectonics, and geochronology in Archean and Proterozoic orogens. Although she begins July 1, she isn’t wasting any time; Dr. van Rooyen will be co-teaching advanced field school in August. As soon as she returns, she will jump right into the classroom teaching Mineralogy in the fall and Metamorphic Petrology in the winter.

Welcome Deanne, we are happy to have you at Acadia!
