Acadia well represented at the 2023 AUGC in St. John's

The AUGC is hosted each year by one of the six universities in Atlantic Canada with geoscience programs. It is organized and attended by mainly undergraduate students, and provides them with the opportunity to present their current work, learn about local geology, meet members of the broader Atlantic geoscience community, and enjoy the company of like-minded students from across the region.

This year AUGC was held at Memorial University in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. The event included a meet-and-greet and scavenger hunt on Thursday, field trips and the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists Challenge Bowl on Friday, and presentations and a banquet on Saturday. Thank you to the Alexander Murray Geological Society at Memorial University for hosting a great weekend.

On Friday, participants chose to attend a field trip to the Eastern Avalon High Alumina Belt to search for gold or to Upper Island Cove to hunt for Ediacaran fossils (above)
