Monet Streit receives prestigious Gélinas Medal

Congratulations Monet!

Monet Streit, May 2023 honours graduate in Geology and Environmental Science, is the 2022–23 recipient of the Gélinas Medal, awarded by the Volcanology and Igneous Petrology division of the Geological Association of Canada.  This medal is awarded annually in a national competition for the best BSc honours thesis. The selection committee members were very impressed by Monet’s work and congratulated them on their exceptional research.  Monet’s thesis entitled “Petrography and geochemistry of early Carboniferous volcanic rocks in the northeastern Cobequid Highlands, Nova Scotia” was nominated for the award by their supervisor, Dr. Sandra Barr.  Both Monet and Dr. Barr will attend the next annual general meeting of the VIP division where the medal will be presented to Monet.
