GEOL 1013 Field Trips – Fall, 2023

The Fall field trips in the Geol 1013 course ended during the last week of October with sunny days and warm temperatures.  The autumn colours were still vibrant along the Gaspereau and Black River valleys, and the Meguma terrane metamorphic rocks and South Mountain granite were showing their best features.  Thanks to student Deonte James for sharing a few of his photographs with us.

The three in-lab field trips – one to view basalt and limestone at Ross Creek, the second to view sedimentary structures and amphibian tracks at Horton Bluff, and the third focused on metamorphic and plutonic rocks – have been a feature of the Geol 1013 course for many decades.  We expect that few other universities can offer such geoscience diversity within a half-hour drive of campus!
