Acadia ALERT - Campus Closed (Weather)

Today, Monday, February 23, 2026, Acadia University will remain closed, with the exception of residences and Wheelock Dining Hall, due to the forecasted weather. Wheelock Dining Hall may adjust their hours due to the weather and any change in hours will be communicated through Residence Life.

Employees and students are not expected to come to campus and only employees deemed essential are required to report to work. Non-essential employees are not expected to work during the closure. Any events scheduled for today will be postponed or cancelled.

End of Year Banquet

Our banquet is also a chance to celebrate some of the student awards for this year.

Sarah Doyle, Lucy Boyne and Rowan Norrad received NSERC USRAs for summer research this year.

Tiernan Davies received the Mineralogical Association of Canada Student Prize for excellence in mineralogy and petrology.

Tess Gates-Flaherty received the Geological Association of Canada – Prospectors and Developers Association Logan Student Prize for leadership and contributions to the department, field skills, and academics.

Karen Brookman is the Acadia University representative attending the Student-Industry Mineral Exploration Workshop (S-IMEW) sponsored by the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada. Brook Penner is the Acadia University representative attending the Student-Industry Field Trip (SIFT) sponsored by the Canadian Energy Producers Association. We are looking forward to the reports after your trips!

Tiernan Davies received the Harcourt L. Cameron Award, and Amanda Tracy (ESSA president) received the Linda Lusby Award for their achievements in their programs, and leadership in and contributions to the clubs and the Department.
