Atlantic Geoscience Society Colloquium 2025!

The annual AGS Colloquium took place in Dartmouth on February 7 and 8. The Department was well represented by students and faculty. Congratulations to all our student presenters; Jesse, Dylan, Tiernan, Hayley, Bella, and Abbey, and thank you to all the students and professors who supported them. Presenters and attendees learned a lot, made new connections with fellow students across Atlantic Canada, and were inspired to contribute to their Atlantic Geoscience community.

A huge thank you to the Cheslock Fund in EES which helps to support student attendance at events like this one!

Acadia students were recognized for their work at the awards banquet on Saturday evening. Abbey Smith was awarded the Robert Raeside Award for the best undergraduate poster for her poster “A qualitative assessment of coastal erosion processes in Hantsport, Nova Scotia.” with work from her honours project (co-authors Ian Spooner, Mo Snyder, and Mitch Maracle).

Dylan McKeen was awarded the Graham Williams Award for the best graduate student poster for his poster “Origin, terrane affinity, tectonic evolution, and age of the Clyburn Brook Formation, Cape Breton Highlands, Nova Scotia.” with work from his Master’s project (co-authors Deanne van Rooyen, Sandra Barr, Chris White, and Rob Raeside).
