Geology Senior Field School Fund
The Senior Geology Field School Fund was set up through donations to financially assist Geology and Environmental Geoscience students so that all who wish to do so are able to participate in the Senior Field School. Funds are allocated at the discretion of the Department Head and Budget Committee.

The Senior Geology Field School provides hands-on experience in geological mapping and making a geological map. The course was developed in 1985 to meet an increasing demand for field experience and continues to be offered at the beginning of the final year of the geology curriculum. To reduce the cost to the department and students, it currently has two parts: the first 8 days are based at the Gaelic College in St. Anns, on Cape Breton Island, and a two-day capstone independent mapping project is done close to Wolfville later in the Fall term. Since its inception, more than 200 geology majors have attended the field school. Although most of the cost of the field school is covered by Acadia University through the EES departmental budget, students are required to pay their own room and board at the Gaelic College, a significant expense. Hence, we solicit donations to lower these costs so that all students who want to do so can afford to attend the field school.
