The Acadia Petrographic Laboratory

The Acadia Petrographic Laboratory (APL) provides technical support for both faculty and students in Earth and Environmental Science, as well as the broader geoscience community. Funds are allocated at the discretion of the Department Head and Budget Committee.

Honours and MSc students have in-house access to thin section production for their thesis work and this gain valuable experience by preparing their own samples. The facility also does external work, providing both support for the geoscience community beyond Acadia and funds for equipment maintenance and purchase in the APL. We welcome your donation to enable the department to maintain and improve this invaluable resource, which has been lost from many other geoscience departments across Canada.
