Geohazards in a changing climate – an Atlantic Canadian perspective

 

Dr. Maureen Matthew is a Senior Engineering Geologist with BGC Engineering in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She has 20 years of experience investigating geohazards including landslides, subsidence, flood-related hazards, and coastal processes across Canada and internationally. Her work focuses on understanding how geological and environmental processes affect communities, infrastructure, and resource development. Maureen holds a PhD focused on cascading hazards in deglaciating alpine environments and has worked on projects ranging from remote mountain watersheds to urban developments and major infrastructure. She loves communicating earth science to broad audiences and helping people understand the landscapes around them.
