Geology General Fund

Field Course funding

A field school fund is available to assist students to participate in field work and field experiences. Any student enrolled in a program in the department may make application to the fund once a year, stating their needs and the benefits they anticipate to gain from the field work or field experience. This fund has been used to assist students to attend field schools, and to participate in field courses elsewhere.

Equipment funding

The Department of Earth and Environmental Science also seeks funding for equipment. Smaller items (compasses, teaching samples, consumables, etc.) are bought from the department's regular budget, but larger items usually need specialized fund-planning, whether through application to internal funds in the university, or to generous donors. Items that sit on our "wishlist" include a GIS lab, thin section manufacturing equipment, and analytical equipment.
