AUGC 2017

The Atlantic Universities Geoscience Conference 2017 is being hosted this year at Memorial University (MUN). I am writing to provide some basic information about the upcoming conference to be circulated among your faculty, undergraduate students, and your undergraduate society executive.

The conference is scheduled for October 26th to 28th here in St. John’s, Newfoundland! So some lucky Earth Science students will get to visit “The Rock”!

We will be providing accommodation and airfare for three students as per the AUGC Constitution, with each school’s student society to provide the airfare for an additional three students. That’s six spots available for an almost free trip to Newfoundland!

We have many events planned including the AUGC’s annual Challenge Bowl, a pub-crawl on St. John’s (in)famous George Street,  and an awards banquet with reception to top it all off! Not to mention our exciting array of field trips around the Avalon Peninsula!

One final thing, for those who have won awards at this past year’s AUGC, we were hoping you could secure the plaques and arrange for them to be brought to St. John’s when you travel here for the conference.

If you want more details about the conference I can be your point of contact, a.macdonald@mun.ca. Our website should be up and running shortly which will provide all the basic information needed to start planning!

Thank you for your time and I look forward to seeing many of you next year at AUGC 2017!

Cheers,
