Description:

 

·        Tallest of cord grasses

·        Culms 1-2 m in height

·        Closely crowded with overlapping spikelets arranged along only one side of the inflorescence branches

·        Second glume ends in an awn 3-10 mm long

 

 

Habitat:

 

·        Damp open areas

·        Not necessarily saline areas

·        Dominant over large areas

·        Cow pasture
