Description:

 

·        1-2 m tall erect plant with long wide erect linear leaves

·        Minute pistillate flowers are crowded in thick cylindrical spikes, above them are staminate flowers that are arranged in narrower terminal spikes

·        Leaf sheaths taper into the blade which is equal to or longer then the spike

 

 

Habitat:

 

·        Brackish swales near the coast

·        Inland swamps

·        Ditches

·        Along streams

 

 

Distribution:

 

·        Bog
