Black Nightshade

Description:

·        Weakly erect plant, up to 0.5 m tall

·        Smooth green stem may be angular

·        Oval leaves 5 cm wide and 8 cm with irregular margins and may be tinged with black or purple

·        Five to seven white flowers with yellow centers are carried in each raceme

·        At maturity the fruit is dull black and about 12 mm in diameter

Habitat:

·        Rocky or dry open woods

·        Thickets

·        Forest openings

·        Shores

·        Spreading to cultivated or waste ground
