·        White flowers in a staked raceme 2-3 cm long

·        Berries are pale red with purplish spots

·        Leaves are clasping and heart-shaped at base

 

 

Habitat:

 

·        Common in a variety of habitats

·        One of the first plants to appear under conifers

 

 

Distribution:

 

·        Common throughout forested areas
